From Raise Foundation

Raise Foundation mentoring programs prioritise younger students in public secondary schools who are most at risk of disengagement or poor wellbeing. By offering early intervention, evidence-based mentoring for young people in high schools with trained and trusted, independent adults we empower young people to get through adolescence, believe in themselves and others, and shape a purposeful life. The young people in the program are supported over two school terms by a trained volunteer community mentor and program counsellor, in order to achieve positive outcomes in social- emotional wellbeing, mental health support and school engagement. This grant will provide mentoring programs at Ryde Secondary College and Marsden High School for young people who need it the most. The grants will be used to fund the qualified Program Counsellor who supervises each mentoring program, they will facilitate the 20 week program with the young people. It will also assist in covering the costs of mentor recruitment, screening and training of community volunteer mentors.
Raise are so grateful for the ongoing support of the club. Running these programs would not be possible without their generosity.

From Hunters Hill Theatre

The rental assistance grant that Club Ryde has recently awarded the Hunters Hill Theatre is very much appreciated as it allows the theatre to continue its long history of delivering quality affordable entertainment to the communities of Ryde and surrounds.
Hunters Hill Theatre is the oldest continuously running theatre on mainland Australia. Hunters Hill Theatre held its first committee meeting in September 1930 and has never looked back. Originally called the Hunters Hill Play Reading and Dramatic Club (quite a mouthful), it has been performing continuously ever since. This year marks its 94th year !
Over the years, productions have been staged in a variety of venues from the Town Hall to church halls and at the little Stables Theatre in Woolwich Road. In the mid 1970’s, the opportunity came to move into St John’s Church Hall, Woolwich, where a vibrant and welcoming theatre was created and enjoyed by theatre members and audiences alike.
The dream was shattered in the early hours of December 2, 1993, when vandals set fire to the heritage-listed timber hall and destroying everything, including the theatre’s sets, props and extensive wardrobe of costumes. All that was left was a steel filing cabinet (still in use, if somewhat battle-scarred).
In December 2016 the Anglican Church sold our beautiful building, but we are now proud to perform our productions at CLUB RYDE, 728 Victoria Road, Ryde.
And we thank Club Ryde for the rental assistance grant that allows us to continue delivering quality entertainment.

From Ryde Hunters Hill & Canada Bay Life Education

Ryde Hunters Hill & Canada Bay Life Education (Healthy Harold) has a 40-year history teaching preventative health education to preschool, primary and high school aged children. We cover topics including nutrition, cyber safety, emotional wellbeing, bullying, peer pressure, hygiene, smoking and vaping and other drugs.
This funding will be used to reduce the cost to families and schools and in some cases teaching the whole school for free. This funding will lift the financial burden on families and allow the children to experience a fun, interactive and informative program, which they love. Even after more than 40 years we continue to follow the principles of our founders, Rev. Ted Noffs and Dick Smith, being that “Every child should be educated regardless of their financial position” and this funding will allow us to continue doing that.
